ARA----------------------A meeting of the district level agriculture task force was held in the Collectorate auditorium on Tuesday under the chairmanship of District Magistrate Tanay Sultania. In the meeting, the progress of various schemes related to the Agriculture Department was reviewed and necessary guidelines were given to the concerned officials.

During the review, the District Magistrate obtained detailed information about the rainfall situation in the district. Discussing the flood affected areas, he directed the District Agriculture Officer to quickly assess the crop damage in other affected panchayats including Jawainiya Panchayat of Barhara and Shahpur blocks and start the compensation process, so that timely assistance can be provided to the affected farmers.

Under the National Natural Farming Mission Scheme, a total of 10 clusters have been selected from Koilwar, Sandesh, Ara Sadar, Bihiya and Jagdishpur blocks, whose total area is 500 hectares and 1250 farmers will be benefited from this. The District Magistrate directed that the selected farmers should be provided training through the Krishi Vigyan Kendra.

Information was given about the adequate availability of fertilizers in the district for Kharif 2025, which includes Urea - 17954.84 MT, DAP - 3026.98 MT, NPK - 10474.72 MT, MOP - 1420.75 MT and SSP - 7899.63 MT.

The District Magistrate gave clear instructions that a team should be formed and raids should be conducted against illegally operated fertilizer establishments and action should be taken to cancel the license as per the requirement. Under the Agricultural Mechanization Scheme, applications will be taken through the online portal for custom hiring.

The District Magistrate directed to complete all the processes in this regard in a timely manner as per the prescribed guidelines. During the review of the Minor Irrigation Division, the District Magistrate directed to start all the closed tube wells as soon as possible. At the same time, during the review of the fisheries department, it was informed that fish farming is being done in big ponds by identified farmers in the Lahthan area under Piro block.
