The Mata Mundeshwari Temple in the district is an ancient octagonal temple dating back to 625 BC. Upon the fulfillment of a wish, the temple has a unique tradition of sacrificing a bloodless goat with rice, flowers, and unbroken rice grains. At the time of sacrifice, the goat is laid at the feet of the goddess after a ritualistic worship, making it appear dead.

There is a temple in the country where a bloodless sacrifice is practiced. This unique practice is found in the ancient Mata Mundeshwari Temple in Bihar, where bloodless sacrifices are performed. Worship is performed here using only rice and flower rice. This temple is located on the Pavara hill in the Bhagwanpur block of Kaimur district. It is said to date back to 625 BC. Devotees from all over the country and abroad visit this temple to have darshan of the Mother Goddess. A fair is held here throughout Navratri, and millions of devotees visit the temple.

Gaurav and Varsha, from Sonbhadra district in Uttar Pradesh, who visited the Mundeshwari Temple during Sharadiya Navratri, said, "We've been coming for a long time. We've heard about the goddess's glory and that any wish we make here is fulfilled. We've visited the temple twice with our entire family, and it feels very peaceful." Ajay Kumar Singh, a resident of Tihra in Ramgarh district, who arrived with a goat after his wish was fulfilled, said he brought the goat because a wish he had made at the goddess's court had been fulfilled.
