BUXAR------------------------A three-day training workshop on Kaithi script will be held in Buxar, it will help in understanding land records. The inscriptions found in Baijnath Shiva temple of Kaimur district, Srinagar of Madhepura, Andharathadhi of Madhubani and Bateshwar Shiva temple of Bhagalpur show the antiquity of this script. From the time of Sher Shah Suri to the land documents of landlords like Amar Shaheed Babu Veer Kunwar Singh and Darbhanga Maharaj were written in Kaithi script.
A three-day training workshop will be organized in Buxar from August 2 to 4 for the preservation and promotion of the ancient Kaithi script of Bihar under the joint aegis of , Buxar and Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH), Patna Chapter. Museum Director Dr. Shiv Kumar Mishra said that the registration process has started from July 18.
For registration, you can come to the museum and contact. Due to limited space, priority will be given to land related professionals, revenue employees, Amins, advocates and bank employees. This workshop will not only contribute to the preservation of Kaithi script, but will also facilitate the study of land related documents and the judicial process. On the occasion of the announcement of the workshop, Abhiram Dubey, senior journalist Ram Murari, Vimal Yadav, Mohammad Mushtaq Hussain, Aniket Kumar, Mohammad Aashiq, Ramrup Thakur, Abhishesh Choubey, Abhinandan Kumar and other museum personnel were present.
Kaithi script is a part of the rich cultural heritage of Bihar, which has been in use for about a thousand years. Inscriptions found in Baijnath Shiva temple of Kaimur district, Srinagar of Madhepura, Andharathadhi of Madhubani and Bateshwar Shiva temple of Bhagalpur show the antiquity of this script. From the time of Sher Shah Suri to the land related documents of landlords like Amar Shaheed Babu Veer Kunwar Singh and Darbhanga Maharaj were written in Kaithi script.
At present, during the ongoing land survey in Bihar, there is difficulty in reading old documents, because the knowledge of this script is almost negligible among revenue employees, advocates and judicial officers. This is creating obstacles in the settlement of land related matters and bank loan process. Most of the pending cases in various courts of Bihar are also related to land.
Dr. Mishra said that his team has organized many national and international level training programs in Patna, Darbhanga, Bhagalpur, Nawada and Begusarai, in which thousands of people have been trained. The Revenue Department of Bihar Government has also started training for its employees. Trained youth like Pritam Kumar and Waqar Ahmed have trained government employees in many districts. Apart from this, a booklet has been published for Kaithi script training, and a six-month certificate course has been started in Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University.
Convener of INTACH Patna and senior historian Bhairav Lal Das has written a book titled Kaithi Lipi Ka Itihaas, which highlights the importance of this script. Art and Culture Officer of Buxar district Pratima Kumari said that this workshop is an important step towards the preservation of the cultural heritage of Bihar. This event has received financial support from organizations like Maithili Sahitya Sansthan, Bihar Archaeological Council, INTACH and Bharatiya Bhasha Sansthan, Mysore.
