The grievances of the petitioners came to light at the public grievance redressal camp organized by Superintendent of Police Shubham Arya at the Koransarai police station premises on Thursday. This public grievance redressal camp was not just a platform for hearing complaints, but it became a center for sharp questions on sensitive issues such as the role of the police in land disputes, alleged negligence at the police station level, weak action in assault cases, and domestic violence. A large number of petitioners presented one case after another, which exposed the ground reality of the administrative system. It became clear at the very beginning of the public grievance redressal camp that the most serious and complex problem in the area is land disputes.
Several petitioners alleged that their own ancestral land was being forcibly encroached upon by influential people, and when they complained, they were harassed instead.
Gayatri Devi, a woman from the local police station area, presented her plight before the SP and said that some named individuals had blocked her path by dumping soil. This has obstructed the movement of not only her but also her entire family. She said that despite complaining to the police station and other offices several times, no concrete action has been taken to date. After hearing the woman's statement, SP Shubham Arya reprimanded the concerned officers and instructed them to immediately conduct an on-site investigation and bring out the truth.
The SP clearly stated that blocking a road is a serious matter and if the allegations are found to be true, strict action will be taken against the culprits.
The most serious and talked-about case at the public grievance redressal camp was raised by Ravindra Mishra. He alleged that some named individuals were forcibly encroaching on his ancestral land, and when he protested, he was threatened with being framed. Ravindra Mishra stated that he owns a total of 96 decimal of land, of which a 30-foot portion has been properly fenced. Despite this, sometimes cow dung is dumped on the land, and sometimes temporary huts are erected to illegally occupy it. He alleged that when he constructed a boundary wall to protect his land, the goons objected to that as well. Even after submitting applications to the Circle Office and the police station multiple times, no solution was found.
Instead, sometimes Section 107 and sometimes Section 144 are imposed on him in the name of disturbing the peace. The most serious allegation was that the Station House Officer (SHO) threatened to implicate him in a case. SP Shubham Arya took this matter seriously and instructed the SHO to coordinate with the Circle Officer and conduct a thorough investigation of all the documents. He clearly stated that if Ravindra Mishra's ownership of the land is proven and someone is obstructing his rights, then an FIR should be immediately registered against the named individuals.
A serious case of assault that occurred recently also came up at the public grievance redressal camp. The victim, Balkeshwari Devi, and her son, who is an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Amit Kumar Singh, alleged that they were brutally assaulted near Koransarai Mathia over a land dispute. The victims claimed that an attempt was made to kill them and that both of them suffered broken hands. The victims alleged that the police took the matter lightly and removed serious charges. When they go to the police station demanding justice, they are threatened. ASI Amit's mother, Balkeshwari, even told the SP at the public grievance redressal meeting that the station house officer (SHO) says, "There's lobbying all around,
I'll set your mind straight, woman..." On this, SHO Madhuri Kumari informed the SP that the charge sheet had been filed under the same section in which the case was registered. After hearing both sides, the SP ordered a re-investigation of the entire matter. He asked the victim for the injury report and clarified that impartial action would be taken without any pressure or bias.
An emotional case of a family dispute also came up at the public grievance redressal meeting. Rohan Kumar, a resident of Mungaon, alleged that his father-in-law was not allowing him to meet his wife. Rohan said that he had a love marriage while coaching in Dumraon. Later, a social marriage was also performed with the consent of both families, and they have a son. Despite this, his in-laws are harassing him. Whenever he goes to meet his wife, his father-in-law gets him arrested at the police station, and his wife is also being instigated against him. In this case, the SP assured him that he would investigate, talk to both parties, and find a solution.
At the end of the public grievance redressal meeting, SP Shubham Arya clearly stated that no injustice would be allowed to happen to any complainant.
He emphasized taking complaints seriously at the police station level, maintaining impartiality in land disputes, and not tolerating complaints of intimidating or threatening victims. The SP clearly indicated that if negligence or malicious intent is found at any level during the investigation, the responsible officers will be held accountable. Action is sure to follow. This public grievance redressal forum at the Koransarai police station has emerged not just as a platform for complaints, but as a platform that holds a mirror to the system, where ordinary people have openly raised their voices for their rights and justice.
