ARA---------------------------Naik Hare Ram Kunwar of the Bihar Regiment was martyred in a tragic accident in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday. ​​Upon receiving the news of his martyrdom, a wave of grief swept through Nathmalpur village under Barhara block of Bhojpur district, and a pall of silence descended. Hearing this news the eyes of the villagers filled with tears.

38-year-old Naik Hareram Kunwar had spoken to his mother, Shanti Devi, on his mobile phone on Thursday morning, inquiring about the well-being of his family. After that, he said he was leaving for duty. No one had any idea that this would be their last conversation. Just a few hours later, the news of his sacrifice plunged the entire family into deep shock. According to family members, the mortal remains of the martyred soldier will reach Danapur by late Friday evening, after which they will be brought to his ancestral village, Nathmalpur. His last rites will be performed with full military honors at Mahuli Ganga Ghat in Barhara on Saturday.

It is noteworthy that on Thursday, an army bulletproof vehicle fell into a 200-foot deep gorge near Khanni Top on the Bhaderwah-Chamba road in Doda district. The vehicle was carrying soldiers who were going to their posting for an anti-terrorism operation. In this tragic accident, a total of 10 soldiers attained martyrdom, while 11 were injured. Several soldiers of the Bihar Regiment are among the martyrs, including Naik Hareram Kunwar from Bhojpur. Immediately after the accident, the army and police jointly conducted a rescue operation and recovered all the bodies from the gorge.
