BHABHUA--------------------------While Chandni Chowk in Mohania, Kaimur district, is mandatory for the general public to follow traffic rules, senior district officials are flouting these rules and brazenly entering the "no-traffic zone." This situation is not only disrupting traffic flow but also causing anger among ordinary citizens who expect similar rules to be followed. While traffic police officers deployed at Chandni Chowk immediately issue challans to small vehicles, private vehicles, and e-rickshaw drivers for entering the no-entry zone, they lack the courage to stop administrative vehicles. It is alleged that senior officials, under the influence of their position, force traffic inspectors into the no-entry zone. This double standard raises questions about the credibility of traffic rules.
Local residents say that traffic rules should be the same for everyone. When a common citizen has to pay a fine for entering a no-entry zone, why should administrative officials remain untouched? This VIP culture is weakening the traffic system and diminishing respect for the law. An auto driver, speaking on condition of anonymity, said, "We are stopped and fined for even the slightest mistake. But large government vehicles enter no-entry zones with their sirens blaring, and no one stops them. This is utter injustice."
The role of the traffic police is also questionable in this matter. Are they truly under pressure from superiors, or is this a form of collusion? Traffic inspectors should, in their duty, enforce the same rules for everyone, regardless of their background. Intimidating superiors into violating rules is unacceptable under any circumstances.
The district administration should take cognizance of this serious issue. Senior officials should set an example for the general public by following traffic rules themselves. If they themselves violate the rules, how can they expect the general public to follow them? The district administration should immediately investigate this matter, take action against the guilty officials, and ensure that traffic rules are enforced equally at Mohania's Chandni Chowk. Violators should be punished, no matter how high-ranking the officer.
