ARA--------------------------Loknayak Jaiprakash Memorial Institute organized a tribute meeting of Dr. Umesh Chandra Sinha. JP fighters and dignitaries paid tribute to the late comrade at Mukt Kala Manch situated at Loknayak Memorial.

The meeting was presided over by senior JP fighter Sushil Tiwari and conducted by General Secretary Sushil Kumar. Umesh ji was a militant activist of the 1974 movement and a well-known mathematician. He died in Delhi on 29 July due to cardiac arrest. Umesh ji was the younger brother of former Vice Chancellor of Veer Kunwar Singh University K.C. Sinha. Along with the JP movement, he played an active role for years as a full-time activist of Chhatra-Yuva Sangharsh Vahini in Ara, Patna, Nagpur. Umesh ji played a leading role in the Bodh Gaya land movement. He was in Gaya jail during that movement too.

Sushil Tiwari paid tearful tribute to Umesh ji by describing his fighting role during Bodh Gaya struggle and Emergency. Gulab Chand Prasad presented the memoirs of his prison life with him during Emergency. Nathu Ram described Umesh ji as a generous and magnanimous person. Salil Bhartiya paid tearful tribute by highlighting the nomadic life he spent with Umesh ji during Emergency. Moderator Sushil Kumar, while highlighting his scholarship, said that Umesh ji was an M.Sc. in Physics but was a famous teacher of Mathematics. Many Mathematics books written by him are read by students from Inter to M.Sc. Ashok Manav, while describing Umesh ji's resolution in installing the statue of late Pawan Srivastava, said that we will definitely fulfill his resolution.

Umesh Singh, Kamlesh Kundan, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Mintu Singh, Sanjay Singh etc. addressed the gathering and paid tribute. Apart from these, a large number of students present also paid tribute to Umesh ji. At the end of the meeting, two minutes of silence was paid tribute to Umesh ji.
