SASARAM-----------------------A ten-day special awareness program was organized under Sankalp District Hub for Empowerment of Women, run by Mahila Bal Vikas Nigam in Sasaram block of the district, in which information was given to the women head representatives of 15-20 panchayats through the District Project Manager WCDC, representative of C3 organization, and the personnel of DPRC office Rohtas about the services provided to women under the Sankalp: Hub for Empowerment of Women scheme and One Stop Center. Also, under the Child Marriage Prevention Act, awareness was created to marry boys and girls only at the age prescribed by the government. Prenatal Diagnostic Techniques (Prohibition of Sex Selection) Act, 1994, (PCPNDT Act) was also discussed in detail. During the discussion, it was told that the purpose of this Act is to prevent female foeticide and improve the declining sex ratio in the country. This Act prohibits the detection and telling of the sex of the fetus by any type of ultrasound or other techniques before birth. There is a provision of punishment for violation of this law, which can include both imprisonment and fine. Awareness programs were also organized on topics like women helpline 181, child helpline 1098, POSH Act 2013, etc.
