To ensure a scientific assessment of Kharif paddy production in the Buxar sub-division area, Sub-Divisional Officer Avinash Kumar inspected a paddy harvesting experiment on Thursday in Sagrav village of Sagrav Mangrav Panchayat in Rajpur block. The inspection was conducted in the field of local farmer Sanjay Singh, plot number 808, where the harvesting experiment was completed in a rectangular area 10 meters long and five meters wide, as per the prescribed standards.
During the harvesting, a total yield of 36.970 kilograms of paddy was obtained. Based on this scientifically conducted assessment, the estimated productivity of paddy was determined to be 73.94 quintals per hectare, which is considered encouraging for this region. The main objective of this experiment is to provide reliable data on the actual production capacity of Kharif paddy in the agricultural year 2025-26 to the government and farmers, so that accuracy can be brought into agricultural policy making and implementation of schemes.
During the inspection, the SDO understood the intricacies of the harvesting process and also gave necessary instructions to the concerned officials for accurate data collection. He said that such experiments are extremely important in the interest of the farmers, as they enable a scientific assessment of the level of farming, climate impact, and production capacity. District Statistics Officer Buxar, Assistant Statistics Officers Itarhi and Rajpur, Agriculture Coordinator, and Data Entry Operators Ravishankar Pandey, Sanjay Kumar Singh, and Munna Yadav were also present at the event. Pappu Singh, the head of Sagrav Mangrav Gram Panchayat, was also present throughout the program.
Officials stated that similar crop-cutting experiments are being conducted in various panchayats of the district to prepare an overall assessment of the production situation during the Kharif season. The administration believes that this process will not only provide an accurate estimate of the yield but will also facilitate the provision of crop insurance, subsidies, and technical assistance to farmers in the future. Farmer Sanjay Singh said that timely irrigation and technical advice from the agriculture department resulted in a good crop. He expressed hope that such scientific experiments would greatly benefit farmers in the coming years as well.
