RESTORATION WORK OF KOELWAR BRANCH CANAL COMPLETED

ARA-------------------------Adding a notable chapter to the agricultural landscape of Bhojpur district, the restoration work of Koilwar branch canal has been completed under Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Abhiyan. As per the instructions of District Magistrate Tanay Sultania, the restoration work of Koilwar branch canal under Son Canal Division, Ara has been successfully completed under Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Abhiyan.

In the past years, water flow was obstructed due to excessive silt, bushes and other reasons accumulated in the canal, due to which the farmers of the area were facing difficulties in irrigation. In view of this situation, necessary technical works like designed section construction, SLR bridge, outlet, retaining wall and CC block pitching were done for the restoration of the canal.

As a result of these works, for the first time, water has been able to reach the last end of Koilwar branch canal and its distribution system for irrigation. Due to this, the farmers of Sahar, Sandesh and Agigaon blocks are getting direct benefit. Due to uninterrupted water flow till the last limit, the farmers of the area are no longer completely dependent on rain for irrigation. Due to the availability of irrigation facility from surface water, the dependence on tube wells has reduced, which is also helping in conserving the groundwater level.
