RESTORATION OF BIHIA BRANCH CANAL, FARMERS GOT THE BENEFIT OF IRRIGATION
Under the Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Abhiyan, on the instructions of Bhojpur District Magistrate Shri Tanay Sultania, the restoration work of Bihiya Branch Canal under Son Canal Division, Ara was successfully completed. In the past years, the water flow in the canal was facing obstruction due to excessive silt, bushes and other reasons, due to which the farmers of Jagdishpur, Piro and Bihiya blocks were facing difficulty in irrigation.

ARA-----------------------------Under the Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Abhiyan, on the instructions of Bhojpur District Magistrate Shri Tanay Sultania, the restoration work of Bihiya Branch Canal under Son Canal Division, Ara was successfully completed. In the past years, the water flow in the canal was facing obstruction due to excessive silt, bushes and other reasons, due to which the farmers of Jagdishpur, Piro and Bihiya blocks were facing difficulty in irrigation.
To solve this problem, the necessary technical work for the restoration of the canal such as construction of canal structure, bridge construction, water outlet gate, wall construction and laying of paving stones was done. As a result, water has started reaching the last end of the Bihiya Branch Canal and the small canals connected to it. Due to this, the farmers of the area have got the facility of irrigation from surface water, which has reduced their dependence on rain and tube wells. Also, this effort is proving to be helpful in keeping the groundwater level balanced.
This initiative is an important step towards agriculture and environmental protection under the Water-Life-Greenery campaign.
