ARA------------------------------Bihiya station on Danapur-PDDU railway line witnessed a tragic accident, when Gyaneshwar Prasad, a grade-1 maintainer of the railway signal department, died on the spot after falling from train number 63233 (passenger train) on platform number two. This accident happened right in front of the GRP post, which created chaos in the station premises.

The deceased has been identified as 53-year-old Gyaneshwar Prasad, a resident of Nagwan village under Maner police station area of ​​​​Patna district. He was on duty at Bihiya station for the last 15 years. It is being told that he had returned to Bihiya from Bana station on duty and while getting down from the train, he lost his balance and fell, due to which he died on the spot.

The local people informed the railway police about the incident. As soon as the information was received, the police of Ara railway station reached the spot and took the body in possession and got it post-mortem done in Sadar Hospital. On receiving the information of the incident, the family members of the deceased also reached the spot. The family members are crying inconsolably, especially wife Rita Devi and sons Rahul Raj and Aman Raj are in deep shock.

Railway Welfare Inspector Eklavya Kumar Joshi said that the deceased died while on duty. The department has immediately given a welfare amount of Rs 35,000 to the family and arrangements are being made for a respectable funeral. The deceased had started his service as a signal maintainer in Gujarat in the year 2001. This accident is not only the untimely death of a hardworking railway employee, but also raises questions on the safety standards during duty.
