PATNA--------------------------The atmosphere in the capital city of Patna suddenly changed on Wednesday morning when the police conducted a swift raid on a house based on confidential information. Based on this tip-off, the police arrested four people from the spot. During the house search, evidence of several suspicious activities was found.
Patna police recovered a large consignment of foreign liquor during the house search. More than Rs. 17 lakh in cash was also recovered from the accused. Patna police raided Bank Colony in the Jakkanpur police station area on Wednesday morning. The house is said to belong to a journalist, where liquor smugglers were living as tenants and were running a thriving liquor smuggling business. Currently, Patna police are interrogating the arrested liquor smugglers.
During interrogation, the smugglers revealed that they had been involved in liquor smuggling for the past six months. Liquor was also supplied during Chhath and Diwali festivals. According to the smugglers, the liquor was brought to Patna from Madhya Pradesh by train, and the consignment was unloaded in Danapur. From there, it was transported by auto-rickshaws and e-rickshaws to Bank Colony and another house in Vigrahpur for storage. Preparations for the New Year were underway, but then the operation was busted.
During the interrogation, it also came to light that they used to supply liquor to other districts outside Patna and earned a huge profit. Currently, Patna police are working to uncover the entire network.
