PATNA--------------------------The Asia-famous Harihar Kshetra Sonepur Fair 2025 is in the headlines this year for a unique attraction. This year, Pradhan Babu, who is worth one crore rupees, is here. This is not the name of any particular person, but the name of a buffalo. Understand its speciality.
This historic cattle fair in Harihar Kshetra Sonepur was once the largest center for the buying and selling of animals in the entire world. Horses, camels, elephants, bulls, cows, and buffaloes were sold here in huge numbers. However, with time, due to changing regulations, modernity, and changing business methods, the fair seems to be losing its old identity. Now, the fair has become mostly a center of entertainment, trade stalls, swings, cultural programs, and tourist attractions. Animal sales have become a mere formality. Nevertheless, attractive animals like "Pradhan Babu" remind us of the fair's old heritage and keep alive the hope that one day the Sonepur Fair will regain its former glory. The owner has posted the buffalo's price on a large banner near the stall, which attracts a large number of people waiting to see and take photos.
