BHABHUA----------------------------People who came to the district's Subdivisional Civil Court Mohania in the hope of justice are looking helpless amidst the scorching heat and humidity. The situation is such that the complainants have to sit on the ground outside the judge's chamber and wait for their turn. This situation highlights the challenges before the judiciary and the difficulties faced by the common man.
On Tuesday, the temperature in Mohania reached 94 degrees Fahrenheit, while the humidity level was also quite high. In such a situation, waiting in the open without any proper arrangement is no less than a punishment for the people. Especially the elderly and women who have come from far-flung villages are facing a lot of trouble.
However, the crowd of people and long queues in the Mohania Subdivisional Court is nothing new. Earlier also, reports of people standing in long queues for court fees and welfare tickets have come to the fore, where often a situation of altercation also arises. The crowd in the court has increased even more in recent days due to land survey related works and cases like making genealogies.
People present in the court premises say that due to delay in hearing of cases and no fixed time-table, they have to wait for hours. Due to lack of adequate seating arrangements, they are forced to sit on the ground. A complainant, on the condition of anonymity, said, "I have come since morning, don't know when my turn will come. The condition is bad due to heat, but justice is needed."
This situation is not only painful for the common people, but it also hinders the process of justice. How can a person suffering from heat and fatigue present his case effectively, is a big question.
It is worth noting that National Lok Adalats are also organized in the courts of Bhabua and Mohania for quick disposal of cases, in which notices are sent to thousands of parties. Despite this, the situation of crowd and chaos persists in the courts on regular days.
This matter also raises questions on the infrastructure of the judiciary. Unless there are adequate facilities and better management in the courts, the path to justice will not be easy for the common man. The concerned authorities need to pay immediate attention to this matter so that people who come to the threshold of justice do not have to face such difficulties.
