ARA------------------------------After the 24-hour ultimatum given by MLA Rahul Tiwari to restore disaster management services after visiting among the erosion and flood victims, the district administration came into action on Thursday. On the initiative of the District Magistrate (DM), the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Jagdishpur along with the block officials visited the flood and erosion affected areas by boat and took stock of the relief work.
The SDM started the log book for boats and ensured the operation of langar (community kitchen). Apart from this, he played an active role in the smooth running of medical arrangements and distribution of relief material. During this, MLA Rahul Tiwari himself was present among the flood victims in many panchayats including Laldera, Mahuar, and Dilmanpur Bahudari till late evening on Thursday.
MLA Tiwari informed that the District Magistrate has personally assured him that a new Circle Officer will soon be given charge in Shahpur. He told that DM sahab has asked for two days to completely streamline the flood management work. During this time, the block administration will coordinate with the panchayat representatives and conduct relief and rescue operations, which will be monitored by the MLA himself.
The MLA also informed that langars have started where they were left. On this assurance of the District Magistrate and the request for immediate action, the MLA has immediately postponed his previously announced program of gherao of Shahpur block office on Friday.
Along with this, the administration was alerted to maintain activeness in the supply of light, animal feed, plastic sheets and other essential facilities for the flood victims and continue their service. This activeness of the administration has brought great relief to the flood victims.
