IN DEMOCRACY, WHEN THE PROTECTOR BECOMES THE PREDATOR

ARA----------------------Democracy is a system of governance in which every citizen has equal rights to make policies or choose government representatives. In democracy, all citizens have equal rights to participate in the proposal, enactment and implementation of laws, which is done through representatives elected by the public.

If the protector becomes the predator in democracy, then the public also has some duty. First of all, we have to see that the right to vote is an important right, which every citizen has. Every citizen has the right to choose a representative of his choice. Therefore, voting in elections is the primary duty of the public. In democracy, it is the right of the public to criticize the government, criticize the wrongdoings of the government and question it. This makes the government accountable. The public should participate in peaceful agitation. If people are dissatisfied with any action of the government, then they have the right to do a peaceful agitation. But the agitation should not be violent. Respect for law is necessary in democracy. Order can be maintained in the country only when everyone follows the law.

In a democracy, it is important for people to be aware. People should be aware of the laws of the country, government policies, etc. and support the values of equality, freedom and justice in democracy. For the success of democracy, it is important that people perform their duties.

In India's diverse society, divisive politics on the basis of religion, caste and region has harmed the spirit of democracy and communal clashes and hate speech have created divisions in the society.

For example, in recent years, there has been an increase in incidents of violence against religious minority communities, which challenge the secular principles of the Constitution. Such situations destroy the atmosphere of democratic dialogue and create fear among people. However, the misuse of some stringent laws, such as the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, has affected the rights of citizens. Social media is misleading public opinion through misinformation and propaganda.

A democratic country, India's history is full of sagas of great leaders and revolutionaries. The foundation of the country's Constitution was laid by Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar. We all are residents of this country which is known all over the world for its democracy. This country is full of different religions, castes, cultures and traditions and presents an example of unity in diversity. Therefore, the protectors of this country should have the ability to devote themselves to the interests of the people as opposed to personal interests. To maintain stability and strength in the democratic environment, it is necessary for the protectors to follow the etiquette, sense of responsibility and integrity of duty of all parties. Democratic values should be maintained and the existing code of conduct should be followed in development. If the bad traditions of the protectors such as immorality, malpractice, uncivilized activities etc. destabilize and disrupt the democratic system, then economic development comes to a halt and anarchy is created in the society. Therefore, if the protectors are the predators in democracy, then it is very important for the people to be forced by the subjects to raise awareness and give the message of strict code of conduct and etiquette for a healthy and strong democracy.
