Upon receiving the information, Udwantnagar Police Station Officer Jayant Prakash arrived at the scene with the police force and began investigating the matter. According to information, the deceased is 30-year-old Rita Devi, the daughter of Chhotelal Chaudhary, a resident of Deoria village, under the jurisdiction of the Udwantnagar police station.
The deceased's elder sister, Rajmuni Devi, stated that she had taken a loan of fifty thousand rupees from a group to build a staircase in her house, and had repaid some of the money, leaving more than half of the remaining balance. Due to this, she would ask her husband to go out of the village to earn money. This would lead to quarrels between them, and she would be beaten by her husband.
She explained that the two sisters had come to their maternal home in Ramsagar village, under the Badhara police station area, for Chhath. After Chhath, Rita Devi returned to Deoria with her elder sister, Rajmuni Devi. After dinner, the couple began quarreling and fighting. She told them to continue fighting when she returned home.
Meanwhile, on Thursday night, Rita's husband, Chhote Lal Chaudhary, called her on her mobile phone and informed her that her sister Rita was suffering from stomach pain and her condition had become serious. Following this, her parents arrived at her in-laws' home in Deoria, where she was found dead. They informed the local police.
Upon receiving the information, the local police arrived at the scene, took custody of the body, and conducted a post-mortem at Sadar Hospital. On the other hand, the elder sister of the deceased, Rajmuni Devi, has accused her husband Chhote Lal Chaudhary of beating and strangulating her sister to death.
