The deceased was identified as 23-year-old Kajal Kumari.
The deceased daughter's father stated that her in-laws had been harassing her for dowry ever since her marriage. A panchayat had been held about a month ago regarding the assault, but the victim received no relief from the harassment. The father alleges that Pawan Kumar and his mother, Tilavathi Devi, had been continuously assaulting her for the past three days, resulting in Kajal's death. On the other hand, upon receiving information about the incident, Nokha Police Station Officer Dinesh Kumar Malkar arrived at the scene with police force.
He said that acting promptly on the information of the married woman's murder, the body was taken into custody and sent for a post-mortem.

Police have detained the deceased's husband, Pawan Kumar, and mother-in-law, Leelavathi Devi, and have begun questioning them. Following the incident, a team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) arrived at the scene and began a thorough investigation to gather solid evidence against the accused. The police station in-charge stated that the police have registered an FIR, arrested both in-laws, and remanded them in judicial custody, and are now conducting a thorough investigation to ensure strict action is taken against them.
