GENEROUS KINGS LIKE KIRTYANAND SINGH KEPT LITERATURE AND CULTURE ALIVE: DIXIT

PATNA (RNI) In India, art, music, and literature have received patronage and nurture from generous royal families. Generous great men like Raja Bahadur Kirtyanand Singh have made incomparable contributions to the preservation of Indian culture. Therefore, they are worthy of respect and remembrance.

Prof. Surya Prasad Dixit, President of the Rashtriya Bhasha Prachar Samiti, Wardha, and the Hindi Sahitya Sammelan, Prayag, founded by Mahatma Gandhi, expressed this sentiment while inaugurating the birth anniversary celebrations and poetry conference held at the Bihar Hindi Sahitya Sammelan on Sunday. He congratulated the Sahitya Sammelan for its continued activity and said that the declining interest in serious literary events is a matter of concern. All enlightened individuals, society, and the government should be aware of this.

The conference hall was constructed with the financial assistance of ten thousand rupees from Raja Bahadur Kirtyanand Singh. This amount, given in 1936, is equivalent to 385,10,000 rupees today. He said that Kirtyanand Singh was not only a saintly man with tender emotions and a literary consciousness, but also a delicate poet. Writers and artists were highly respected in his court. He would award poets with gold coins for each of their works.
