The Economic Offences Wing (EOU) has arrested Syed Shahnawaz Waji, former branch manager of Awami Cooperative Bank located at Pirbahor, Patna and Vaishali Sahakari Vikas Cooperative Bank Hajipur. He is accused of preparing fake LIC policies in connivance with other bank employees, Life Insurance Corporation of India officials, employees, agents and brokers and opening fake loan accounts and fraudulently embezzling a total amount of more than Rs 101 crore.

He is accused of preparing fake LIC policies in connivance with other bank employees, Life Insurance Corporation of India officials, employees, agents and brokers and opening fake loan accounts and fraudulently embezzling a total amount of more than Rs 101 crore.
In this regard, case number-229/21 was registered in Pirbahor (Patna) police station while Hajipur city police station case number-629/23, 785/23 and 933/23, which was investigated by the Economic Offences Unit in the year 2024.
