Ara (RNI)  With the announcement of parliamentary election 2024, model code of conduct came into force. The parliamentary election for 32-Ara parliamentary election along with mid-term election for the Agiaw Assembly Constituency will be held together on June 1, 2024.

District Election Officer (DEO) cum Bhojpur District Magistrate (DM) Raj Kumar along with the Bhojpur Superintendent of Police Pramod Kumar Yadav was addressing the first press conference at the Ara Collectorate conference Hall. He said that election for the 32-Ara parliamentary election and the mid-term election for the Agiaw Assembly Constituency will be held on June 1, 2024 and the notification in this regard will be published on May 7, 2024. After publication of notification, candidates wishing to contest the elections may file nomination papers and the last date for filing of nomination is May 14, 2024 while scrutiny of the filed nomination paper will be held on May 15, 2024 and candidates can withdraw their names till May 17, 2024. People will cast their votes on June 1, 2024 and counting will be held on June 4, 2024. DEO cum DM said that altogether 21 lakh 58 thousand and 232 voters including 10 lakh 11 thousand and 184 women and 33 third genders will exercise their right of franchise and added that this time 23 thousand 635 new youths in between 18 to 19 age group will exercise their right to vote for the first time in Bhojpur district. Besides 17895 service voters and 43,874 voters above 80 years of age will use their right to vote through postal ballets. Giving details of assembly constituency wise numbers of voters, the DM stated that 192-Sandesh Assembly Constituency has 2 lakh 94 thousand and 756 voters including 1 lakh 39 thousand and 525 woman voters, third gender one and 2856 service voters while 3 lakh 12 thousand and 20 voters including 1 lakh 44 thousand and 159 woman voters, 7 third gender and 3458 service voters are in 193-Badahara Assembly Constituency, 3 lakh 35 thousand and 458 voters including 1 lakh 54 thousand and 780 woman voters, four third genders and 2155 service voters in the 194-Ara Assembly Constituency, 2 lakh 71 thousand and 935 voters including 1lakh 28 thousand and 251 woman voters, one third gender and 1489 service voters in 195-Agiaw Assembly Constituency, 3 lakh 11 thousand 87 voters including 1 lakh 47 thousand and 55 woman voters, four third genders and 1926 service voters in the 196-Tarari Assembly Constituency, 3 lakh 14 thousand 276 voters including 1 lakh 48 thousand and 852 woman voters, 9 third genders and 2394 service voters in the 197-Jagdishpur Assembly Constituency and 3 lakh 18 thousand and 700 voters including 1 lakh 48 thousand and 562 woman voters, 7 third genders and 3617 service voters in the 198-Shahpur Assembly Constituency.

  He stated that district administration is preparing all possible measure on war footing to conduct the election peaceful and impartial manner. At least 2249 polling booths have been made for the parliamentary election in Bhojpur district in which 302 booths are in Sandesh, 326 in Badahara, 349 in Ara, 332 in Jagdishpur, 286 in Agiaw, 331 in Tarari and 323 in Shahpur assembly constituencies.

The DM said that Bhojpur district has 19236 differently abled voters including 2353 blind voters, 10007 deaf and dump voters and 1236 Loko meter disabled voters and volunteers will be deputed at each every polling booth to assist them this time.

The DEO stated that elaborate security arrangement is being done for the forthcoming parliamentary election and the mid-term assembly election in Bhojpur district and the district administration is assessing the deputation of police force. He added 66 companies of the paramilitary force is expected. He added that 6 thousands personnel of Bihar police besides one company of BMP and SSB will be deployed at booths to maintain law and order during election and to foil the bid of any anti-social elements to disturb the election. He further said that police station wise action against the criminals has been initiated in view of the forthcoming election and added that proposals from different police station are received against 62 criminals to book them under the CCA of which CCA has been imposed against 32 criminals so far. He stated that officers will be deputed to check carrying of intoxicants including liquor during the election from booths to other places and for this 219 sector magistrates and 23 flying squads and 23 SST have been deputed to keep vigil on the anti-social and illegal activities.

With the model code conduct came in force after announcement of parliamentary election, Bhojpur district administration became active and started removing posters and banners. At the direction of the Bhojpur district administration, Ara Municipal Corporation (AMC) started removing posters and banners from all the government buildings including the Ara collectorate. Even JCB has been pressed into operation in this regard.
