ARA------------------------Dozens of houses in Jawainia were submerged in Ganga due to the rise in the water level of Ganga and erosion caused by the surging waves. The newly constructed two-storey house of Satya Narayan Pandey was submerged in Ganga on Thursday. The griha pravesh (housewarming ceremony) of this newly constructed house was not done. Apart from this, the houses of Umashankar Pandey, Bharat Pandey, Vidyachal Pandey, Bechu Pandey, Gopal Pandey, Arvind Pandey and others were also sacrificed to Ganga. Due to erosion, the number of houses submerged in Ganga river is increasing day by day. The erosion of Ganga in Jawainia has taken a horrific form. People are living in an atmosphere of terror. The family of Satya Narayan Pandey said that he had built a house for his father Satya Narayan Pandey with great desire. The memories of my parents are associated with Jawainiya. A two-storey house was built. It was always locked. We used to live outside. But Ganga Maaiya snatched our home and submerged it in Ganga. More than thirty-five lakh rupees were spent in building the two-storey house. Due to erosion of Ganga, the existence of Jawainiya village is now on the verge of extinction. Now Jawainiya will remain only in the pages of history. Jawainiya Ten Plus Two School can also merge in Ganga anytime. The school has been vacated and all the necessary documents have been kept in another school or a safe place. At present, the community kitchen is running in the Inter Plus Two School. But everyone is cooking and serving food in fear. People are looking at their houses submerged in water with a cursory and sad look. People who have taken shelter on the dam are facing a lot of difficulties in the rain and thunder. Small children, old and young, all are afraid of snakes and scorpions living on the dam. On asking about this, CO Rashmi Sagar said that water proof tents have been put up on the dam for the displaced families to live. Until land and house are arranged for the displaced families, they will have to live in tents. Necessary action is going on for this. CO said that the school has been kept open. People are scared of erosion and are not living in it. People from various political and non-political institutions are distributing dry and cooked food among the people in relief work. The regional administration has arranged electricity from generators for the displaced families on the dam. Fruits, milk and food have been arranged in the community kitchen. Administrative officers are monitoring to ensure that the displaced do not face any kind of inconvenience.
