ARA-------------------------As the dates for the first and second phases of voting in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections draw closer, election campaigning has reached its peak. Candidates from all parties have shifted from relying on rallies by prominent leaders to the traditional electoral strategy of "scanning the streets."
Candidates in the electoral arena are currently scouring the streets and neighborhoods of their respective constituencies. Amidst the election noise, posters, and loudspeakers, candidates are emphasizing direct, personal contact with voters.
Candidates have been visiting door-to-door since early morning, touching the feet of elders to seek their blessings, speaking to youth about employment issues, and promising women security and development.
Crowds of candidates are also visible in markets and commercial establishments. They are meeting with shopkeepers to explain their party's policies and local development agenda. Political discussions have intensified at tea shops.
In addition to large rallies, candidates are also directly communicating with voters at small street corners and intersections. These meetings focus on local issues.
Experts believe that this intensive public relations campaign is the most effective way to personally influence voters.
“Large rallies create an atmosphere, but the votes come from the homes. Candidates know that direct communication is essential to woo voters at the last minute. Therefore, reaching every home and every shop is both a compulsion and a strategy.” – A political analyst
Before the silent period begins on November 4th for the first phase of campaigning and November 9th for the second phase, candidates are putting in all their efforts. Now it remains to be seen how much these candidates, canvassing from homes to shops, can make a mark in the hearts of voters.
