ARA----------------------------On the call of Bihar State School Cooks Union, hundreds of cooks from across the country, including about two and a half lakh school cooks of Bihar, will take out a long march from Narayan Chowk to Motihari in front of Prime Minister Modi, who is reaching Motihari on July 18, against the breach of promise by PM Modi, for a respectable increase in honorarium
Today, this announcement was made by Saroj Chaubey, General Secretary of Bihar State School Cooks Union, affiliated to ACTU.
Also, he informed that for the last many years, cooks are working for a paltry honorarium of Rs. 1650 per month and that too for 10 months of the year. The central government has not increased their honorarium by even a single rupee in the last decade. On the other hand, the NDA government of the state is constantly misleading but is not increasing the honorarium, due to which there is tremendous anger among lakhs of cooks of the state.
Saroj Chaubey has announced a state-level demonstration of cooks in front of the Vidhan Sabha on July 22 during the upcoming Vidhan Sabha session regarding 11 point demands like declaring cooks as government employees, increasing the honorarium to 26 thousand per month, excluding NGOs from the mid-day meal scheme, giving honorarium for full 12 months instead of 10, giving retirement package, etc.
He informed that preparations are going on in full swing in the whole of Bihar for the long march to be held in front of the Vidhan Sabha in Patna on July 22 and in front of PM Modi in Motihari on July 18.
