CM TIED RAKSHA SUTRA TO THE TREES AND PLANTED TREE

PATNA------------------------Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar tied Raksha Sutra to the tree at Rajdhani Vatika in Patna today on the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan and 'Bihar Tree Protection Day'. The Chief Minister also planted a sapling in Rajdhani Vatika on this occasion.

It is worth noting that on 13 August 2012, on the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan, the Chief Minister had launched "Bihar Tree Protection Day". Its objective is to make people aware of the environment, preserve plants and plant as many trees as possible. It is very important to plant trees and save them to reduce the damage being caused to the earth due to climate change. Tree plantation is being done on a large scale under Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali and other schemes. Eco tourism is also being promoted in the state. With the schemes and efforts of the state government, the people of the state are becoming aware of the environment, conservation of animals and tree plantation.

On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Samrat Chaudhary, Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Dr. Sunil Kumar, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Dr. S. Siddharth, Additional Chief Secretary of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department Mrs. Harjot Kaur, Special Officer to the Chief Minister Mr. Gopal Singh, Commissioner of Patna Division Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh, District Magistrate of Patna Dr. Tyagarajan S.M., Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Kartikeya K. Sharma, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Mr. Prabhat Kumar Gupta along with other senior officers and dignitaries were present.
