Bihar Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar today visited various areas of the capital Patna and took stock of the situation of the rising water level of the Ganga river. He instructed the officials to be fully alert and be prepared to deal with any emergency regarding the continuous increase in the water level in the areas situated on the banks of the Ganga.

PATNA--------------------------Bihar Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar today visited various areas of the capital Patna and took stock of the situation of the rising water level of the Ganga river. He instructed the officials to be fully alert and be prepared to deal with any emergency regarding the continuous increase in the water level in the areas situated on the banks of the Ganga.
The Chief Minister also inspected the J.P. Ganga Path built on the banks of the Ganga river. During this, he also reviewed the plantation and beautification works being done on both sides of the path. He instructed the concerned departments to complete these works in a timely manner and with high quality, so that this area can become attractive not only for traffic but also from the aesthetic point of view.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also thoroughly inspected the construction work of the new six-lane bridge being built parallel to the J.P. Setu from Digha to Sonpur. This bridge is an important project towards making the traffic smooth and accessible between Patna and Saran division.
He said that the construction of this bridge will not only improve the connectivity of cities like Sonpur, Chapra with the capital Patna, but also make the movement with other districts of North Bihar easier than before. The Chief Minister instructed the officials that there should be no laxity in the construction work and the work should be completed within the stipulated time frame.
In view of the increase in the water level of the Ganga river, the Chief Minister specially inspected the flood-prone areas and inquired about the situation there. He instructed the officials of the Disaster Management Department, Municipal Corporation, and Water Resources Department to be fully prepared in all circumstances. The Chief Minister also said that arrangements should be made to alert the people in time and advance arrangements should be made for relief camps, arrangement of boats, safe evacuation routes etc. in the areas affected by floods.
During the inspection, the Chief Minister also interacted with the local citizens and heard their problems. People informed about the problems related to the flood situation, on which the Chief Minister assured prompt action. He said that the government is fully committed to the safety and convenience of the public.
