ARA--------------------------In Bihar politics, ‘Ticket Selling Parties’, i.e. parties where tickets are sold, have become a serious problem. This is not just an internal matter of the parties, but it is directly affecting the development and good governance of Bihar. When money dominates elections instead of merit and public service, it has many negative consequences.

First of all, it is against the basic spirit of democracy. When people with money or criminal tendencies easily buy tickets, the voice of the common people is suppressed. True and honest candidates, who may not have money or power, are deprived of contesting elections. This situation breaks the trust of the public and alienates them from the electoral process.

The main objective of those who win elections by buying tickets is often not public service, but to recover their investment. In such a situation, they get involved in corruption, which delays development projects or affects their quality. The funds allocated for education, health, roads and other infrastructure are misused, the direct brunt of which is borne by the people of Bihar.

The culture of ‘ticket selling’ further strengthens the nexus between crime and politics. People with criminal background enter the legislature on the basis of money, which further worsens the law and order situation. Such leaders use their political influence to fulfill their criminal interests, which creates an atmosphere of fear and insecurity in the society.

When the youth see that money matters more than honesty and merit to enter politics, they become disappointed. Many capable and talented youth move away from politics, due to which Bihar is deprived of a capable leadership. This situation is not a good sign for the future of the state.

Electoral reforms are desperately needed to deal with this serious problem. It is very important to bring transparency within the parties, give priority to merit in the selection of candidates and impose strict control on the use of money power. At the same time, the public will also have to raise their voice against such leaders and parties who consider democracy as a 'good for sale'. For the future of Bihar, it is necessary that the 'ticket-selling' culture be eradicated from its roots.
