ARA-------------------------Bhojpur police arrested a miscreant added to the list of top 10 most wanted criminals, from near Salempur village under Dhobaha police station in Bhojpur district in connection with firing on a school teacher Mumtaj Alam and sent him to jail after interrogation. The arrested miscreant was identified as Sunil Kumar alias Nirhua of Jokata village under Chandi police station in Bhojpur district. Love affair was said to be the cause behind the incident.

Bhojpur SP Mister Raj said that three unidentified armed miscreants had shot at and injured a school teacher Mumtaj Alam 34 son of late School Ansari of Raja Bazaar under Bihia police station in Bhojpur district when he was returning from his school on July 16, 2024. The incident had taken place in between Salempur and Behara village. An FIR was lodged with the police under Dhobaha police station in this regard. A police team was formed and the police team already arrested five miscreants including the mastermind and sent them to jail but Sunil Kumar alias Nirhua was absconding. The police had also seized firearms and motorcycle used in the firing. The arrested miscreants were identified as Anil Sharma, Raj Kumar Sharma, Shyam Kumar, Mithlesh Yadav and Rishikesh Kumar. Meanwhile, the police team arrested Sunil Kumar alias Nirhua from his village Jokata-Salempur under Chandi police station in the evening on October 8, 2024 and sent him to jail after interrogation. Sunil Kumar alias Nirhua was listed in the top 10 miscreants of Bhojpur district. During interrogation, the name of Sunil Kumar alias Nirhua had figured. He was also wanted in several criminal cases including the murder of Akhilesh Kumar son of Ara Sadar Pramukh Jai Kumari Devi and Dacoity.

The SP said that Mumtaz Alam was in love with his lady teacher of his school. Her husband hatched a plan who hired a contract killer on contact of Rs. 1.5 lakh and the contact killers shot at and injured Mumtaz Alam.

The SP further said that Sunil Kumar alias Nirhua had a long criminal history. Over half a dozen criminal cases are pending against him in different police stations of Bhojpur and Rohtas. He added that police were searching for him in connection with murder of Akhilesh Kumar son of Ara block Pramukh Jai Kumari Devi nearRatanpur village under Ara Muffassil police station on May 13, 2024 night, conspiracy for dacoity under Charpokhari police station in the month of August this year in Bhojpur district and a dacoity under Bikramganj police station in Rohtas district. Police will take him on remand in all these matters.
