ARA---------------------------The Shahpur Nagar Panchayat of Bhojpur district has yet to select land for a garbage dumping ground. This situation is extremely worrying for the Nagar Panchayat, as it is dumping waste from its wards wherever it finds vacant space. This is not only affecting the cleanliness of the city but also negatively impacting the health and quality of life of the residents. Due to the lack of a dumping ground, the Nagar Panchayat is dumping waste from the wards in the open along the roadside, causing significant inconvenience to the residents.
The Nagar Panchayat is dumping waste along the river bridge on the Shahpur-Sahauli Road, the NH-84 main road, and the roadside near the Shahpur-Gopalpur river bridge. The terrible stench emanating from this garbage is causing significant difficulties for pedestrians and city residents. This situation is also tarnishing the city's image. Local residents have complained repeatedly to address this problem, but the authorities are making no concrete efforts to address it.
It should be noted that the monthly board meeting of the Shahpur Nagar Panchayat was held on Monday, September 15th (12:30 pm) at the ground floor meeting hall of the city office. Upon learning of this meeting, many residents attended to discuss the city's current problems. However, they expressed their displeasure when they were unable to meet with the officials of the Nagar Panchayat. This situation demonstrates the lack of seriousness on the part of the Nagar Panchayat officials in listening to and resolving the residents' concerns.
Meanwhile, a city official stated that efforts are underway to identify land for a garbage dumping ground. He added that once the land becomes available, the garbage will be dumped there and disposed of. However, there is no clarity on when this process will be completed. Residents are becoming increasingly concerned as they face this problem daily.
The lack of resolution to this problem is fueling anger among residents. People are forced to wonder if their problems will ever be resolved. Will the Nagar Panchayat take any concrete steps in this direction? Residents also say that if this problem is not resolved soon, they will be forced to dump garbage in the Nagar Panchayat office.
Meanwhile, former Deputy Chairman of the Nagar Panchayat, Gupteshwar Sah, stated that it is essential for the cleanliness and health of the city that concrete steps be taken towards waste management. Nagar Panchayat officials should prioritize this issue and work promptly to resolve the problems of the residents.
Ward Councilor Babita Devi said that the Nagar Panchayat must understand that its responsibility is not limited to garbage collection; it must also consider the health and quality of life of the residents.
Ward councilor Kameshwar Raj said that the officials of Shahpur Nagar Panchayat should seriously consider this matter and select land for garbage dumping ground as soon as possible and provide relief to the city residents from this problem.
