The number of people applying for passports has increased in the postal department of Bhojpur district of Bihar since last March. Many reasons are being given behind this. Although the reason is not clear, but it is certain that either the number of people going abroad from here is increasing or people want to keep the passport safe by making it as an identity card and document. Bhojpur district has now become one of the top-10 districts of the state in passport making. Earlier, where people had to go to Patna to get a passport made, now 35 to 40 passport verifications are being done every day at the center built in the main post office of Bhojpur. In the last one month, about 833 passports were made. This number increases to more than 8,000 in a year. It is clear from this that the trend of going abroad is constantly increasing in the district.

The figures show that the district police has played a special role in the success of the passport process. The verification work is being completed within seven days through online app in 99 percent of the cases. The police has also been honored for this. The special thing is that the participation of women in getting passports is also high. One in every ten passports is being made in the name of a woman.

Dubai is the first choice of people who go abroad for jobs by getting passports. People are going to Europe and America for education and IT sector. People are also getting passports made in large numbers for Haj and Urs Yatra. Among the applicants going abroad from Bhojpur, there are a lot of people going to Europe and America along with Dubai and other Gulf countries. There are more applicants due to jobs in Gulf countries (Dubai etc.). Education, better employment and religious travel are also the main reasons due to which the trend of getting passports has increased.

A large number of students from the district are pursuing higher education in foreign institutions including medical and engineering. Apart from this, a large number of workers also go from here for employment in Gulf countries. Abhay Arya, who looks after the passport center in the postal department, said that this figure has been increasing since last February and every month there is a continuous increase in it.

He said that the reason for this is not clear but since the program of Voter List Revision (SIR) has been started, this figure has increased.
