PATNA------------------------The Economic Offences Unit of the Bihar Police has formed a special task force to take large-scale action against sand and land mafias in various districts of Bihar. These mafias have established empires from the criminal world to the corridors of power through illegal sand and land deals and the ill-gotten gains from these activities. The main objective of this special task force is to bring to justice the big sand mafias who are causing losses to government revenue through illegal sand mining from sand ghats in various districts of Bihar and building economic empires with their ill-gotten wealth.

The Economic Offences Unit of the Bihar Police issued a press release stating that to ensure strict legal action against cases related to illegal sand mining, sand mafias, and the illegal activities of land mafias, a special team has been constituted under the leadership of Manoj Kumar Singh (IPS, 1990), Deputy Inspector General of Police, Economic Offences Unit, after reviewing the work of the special investigation team and ensuring lawful action and effective supervision against theft.

This team will investigate and take strict action against illegal sand mining, transportation, storage, economic crimes, crimes associated with illegal mafias, and their financial sources.

The team will ensure continuous action by coordinating and cooperating with the Superintendents of Police of all districts of the state, the concerned departments, and the district administrations.

It is noteworthy that in a recent high-level meeting chaired by the Deputy Chief Minister (Home) and the Director General of Police, Bihar, the Economic Offences Unit, Bihar, Patna, was directed to take effective legal action against sand and land mafias.
