PATNA-----------------------Dr. Anil Sulabh, President of the Bihar Hindi Sahitya Sammelan, was in a different light today at the Akka Mahadevi Auditorium on the first day of the four-day International Literary Festival, which began today at Gyan Bhavan, Gandhi Maidan, Patna, under the auspices of the Sahitya Akademi, Delhi. He astonished and captivated the audience with his Bhojpuri songs and ghazals. He is a renowned Hindi lyricist and writer.

He began his song with these Bhojpuri lines: "A Gujariya walked through the fields, frolicking in her heart/ My beloved, the golden one, climbed on the tongue, speaking sweet, unselfish words!"

In this song, he expressed the feelings of a young village heroine, who considered being the heroine of a handsome and young farmer a matter of pride. She says, "Listen, farmer!" The farmers of my beloved country! My beloved is not illiterate, he is a BA pass/ Better yet, he should go to a faraway city and study farming/ The handsome young man will do farming on his own! Listen, traveller! The farmers of my beloved country!” While reciting a ghazal in Bhojpuri, Dr. Sulabh satirized the rapidly changing people in these changing times with these lines: “How much have you changed in the eyes of my love, my love, my love, or have you lost your temper?” He compelled the audience to open their hands by reciting a couplet from the ghazal: “Oh, the new moon has come, Sulabh has come, my love, or the moon of Puno is coming, my love of the second day.”

In this session of the poetry conference, Paramba Shri Yogmaya recited in Sanskrit, Bishan Singh “Dardi” in Dogri, Satish Vimal in Kashmiri, and Nandini Sahu in English.
