There, goons with their faces covered with black cloth not only brutally beat a 70-year-old elderly woman after branding her a "witch," but also crossed all limits of decency by openly threatening to strip her naked on the street. There, goons with their faces covered with black cloth not only brutally beat a 70-year-old elderly woman after branding her a "witch," but also crossed all limits of decency by openly threatening to strip her naked on the street. The incident is reported to have taken place last Tuesday afternoon.
It is said that the accused, Ajay Kumar and his accomplices, suddenly attacked the elderly woman. Her husband, who came to her rescue, was also attacked and his life was threatened. According to the victim's family, the attackers were so aggressive that they publicly humiliated the elderly woman and issued threats.
Such was the level of fear that the elderly couple, bleeding and in shock, were forced to flee their own home for a short time to save their lives. Station House Officer Sushant Kumar Mandal said that the police took swift action and arrested the main accused, Ajay Kumar, and sent him to jail. Raids are being conducted to apprehend the other accused.
