CONGRESS MOVEMENT UNDER THE MANREGA SANGRAM

BUXAR--------------------------As per the instructions of the All India Congress Committee and the Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee, a one-day protest program was organized today under the aegis of the Barhampur Congress Committee as part of the MNREGA Sangram program. The program started from Raghunathpur village, with a large number of MNREGA workers, women, and youth participating.

This movement, organized against the alleged tampering with and weakening of the MNREGA scheme, received widespread support from the general public. The MNREGA workers and villagers present at the event openly expressed their problems and showed their displeasure with the government's policies.

The President of the Buxar District Congress Committee, Dr. Manoj Pandey, who was present as the chief guest, said in his address that the MNREGA scheme was a world-class and welfare-oriented scheme of the UPA government, which was strengthened and made effective under the leadership of then Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and Congress leader Sonia Gandhi. He alleged that the current Modi government has seriously tampered with MNREGA, causing harm to poor laborers and benefiting big industrialists—Adani and Ambani.

Dr. Pandey said that the Congress party strongly opposes this injustice and will not hesitate to resort to any kind of struggle and sacrifice if needed. He also said that the conspiracy to remove the name of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi from MNREGA and weaken the scheme will be exposed in every village of the district. In the coming days, the Buxar District Congress Committee will make this movement even more aggressive.

Mrunal Anamay, the in-charge appointed by the Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee, said that the way the name and ideas of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi are being tampered with is extremely unfortunate. He said that Mahatma Gandhi brought independence to the country through truth and non-violence and united society. The original form of MNREGA has been changed—where there was a guarantee of 100 days of employment earlier, that guarantee is also being weakened today. This is a danger signal for democracy, which the Congress party will never tolerate. The program was presided over by Block Congress Committee President Raju Verma. Senior Congress leaders Bhola Ojha, Lalbabu Mishra, Dr. Chandrashekhar Pathak, Mohammad Jalil Ansari, Rajesh Pandey, Gautam Verma, Gangeshwar Pandey, Tarkeshwar Pathak, Deepak Kumar, and Sarwan Kumar, along with numerous other Congress workers and local villagers, were present in large numbers on this occasion.
