DELHI----------------------------In Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav garlanded the statue of socialist leader Janeshwar Mishra on his death anniversary. On this occasion, he strongly criticized the BJP government. Calling the BJP a party that follows the path of unrighteousness, Akhilesh raised the issue of the insult to Swami Avimukteshwaranand and held the government responsible for the negligence in the death of engineer Yuvraj Mehta in Noida. He pledged to carry forward the socialist movement and expressed concern over the increasing influence of capitalism. Shivpal Yadav also attended the program and condemned the insult to the saints. This statement is considered part of the SP's strategy before the 2027 assembly elections.
Remembering Janeshwar Mishra, Akhilesh Yadav said that today we pledge to carry forward the socialist movement. He spoke of carrying forward the ideals of Janeshwar Mishra, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia, Netaji Mulayam Singh Yadav, and Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar. Akhilesh emphasized that when capitalist forces prevail, socialists will be concerned about how to preserve and propagate the ideas of these great leaders. He described the SP as the party that is fighting for the PDA (Backward Classes, Dalits, Minorities) and called the BJP a party that promotes capitalism and communalism.
The SP chief launched a scathing attack on the BJP government, calling it a government that follows the path of unrighteousness. He said that the Bharatiya Janata Party is walking on the path of unrighteousness. He specifically mentioned the incident where Swami Avimukteshwaranand was prevented from bathing at the Magh Mela in Prayagraj. Akhilesh said that if any saint is insulted and any government does it, they will stand against it. He appealed to all Sanatanis to unite and said that the government should move forward by protecting the honor of the Shankaracharya. Targeting Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, he said that if he ate Baati Chokha (a traditional dish), he would have to stand like a statue. He further said that he should fall at their feet and beg for forgiveness because the government of which he is the Deputy CM often gets reprimanded. Akhilesh Yadav leveled serious allegations against the Yogi government while raising the issue of the death of software engineer Yuvraj Mehta in Noida. He questioned why various government departments failed to save his life after the incident. It is being reported that no one came to his rescue because the water was too cold. Akhilesh clearly stated that the engineer's life was lost due to the government's negligence. It is worth noting that on the night of January 16, Yuvraj's car fell into the basement of an under-construction mall in dense fog, where it was filled with water. The post-mortem report confirmed death by drowning, with 1-2 liters of water found in his lungs. Yuvraj struggled for about two hours, but due to the delay of the rescue team and the cold water, no help arrived. An SIT investigation is underway in this case, but the family and the opposition are questioning the government's indifference.
Akhilesh's statement has sparked intense discussion on social media and in political circles. The BJP termed it negative politics by the opposition, while SP workers considered it an exposure of the government's failures. Supporters of Swami Avimukteshwaranand praised Akhilesh's stance. A large number of SP leaders and workers were present at the event held at Janeshwar Mishra Park. Political analysts believe that this statement is an attempt to strengthen the SP's position on religious and social issues before the 2027 elections. More reactions are expected in the coming days, but for now, it is proving to be a challenging situation for the BJP government.
