ARA------------------------Chief Minister Nitish Kumar held a high-level meeting on Wednesday regarding the floods. He directed the officials to provide relief amount and compensation to the farmers in the flood affected areas soon.
A population of 25 lakh people has been affected by the floods caused by Ganga and other rivers during the monsoon in Bihar. The CM held a high-level meeting in this regard in Patna on Wednesday. During this, he has instructed the officials to provide relief to the flood affected areas as soon as possible and to compensate the farmers for the loss of crops. Nitish Kumar said that keeping in mind the rising water level in the areas along the rivers, the administration should remain fully alert. Also, help the affected people as soon as possible and with full sensitivity.
Nitish on Wednesday conducted a high-level review of the relief and rescue operations being carried out in the flood affected areas through video conferencing at Sankalp located at Ek Ane Marg. The Chief Minister also took information about the updated status of the water level of the rivers of the state. He said that relief and rescue work should be done with full alertness among the people of flood affected areas. Since coming to power, we are ready to help the disaster victims. Before the monsoon, preparations are reviewed regarding possible floods, droughts and other disasters and everyone is instructed to work according to the SOP. Relief amount and compensation should be given soon. CM Nitish said that the distribution of gratuitous relief amount (GR) should be done among the flood affected people as soon as possible. Ensure payment of money among the farmers for the crop damage caused during the flood. He said that the Road Construction Department and Rural Works Department should ensure restoration work of the roads damaged by the flood, so that people do not face any kind of problem in commuting. Floods have affected 25 lakh population of 10 districts. In the meeting, Development Commissioner cum Additional Chief Secretary of Disaster Management Department Pratyaya Amrit gave the Chief Minister the updated status of relief and rescue operations in flood affected areas and gave detailed information about the water level of rivers. He informed that due to heavy rainfall, 10 districts on the banks of river Ganga, namely Bhojpur, Patna, Saran, Vaishali, Begusarai, Lakhisarai, Munger, Khagaria, Bhagalpur and Katihar have been particularly affected. Floods have affected 25 lakh population of 348 panchayats of 54 blocks of these 10 districts.
