ARA--------------------------A heartbreaking incident has come to light in Megharia village, located in the Azimabad police station area of ​​Bhojpur district, where a married woman was allegedly brutally murdered by her in-laws for not bearing a child. After this heinous crime, an attempt was also made to dispose of the body to destroy evidence, causing a sensation in the village and surrounding areas. The deceased woman's family has directly accused her in-laws of the murder. The police have taken swift action and arrested the main accused, the husband.

According to the information, the deceased has been identified as Neetu Kumari, 26, wife of Shriom Gupta, a resident of Megharia village in the Azimabad police station area. Meanwhile, the deceased's cousin, Ravi Shankar, said that their family is originally from Babubandh village in the Chauri police station area and is currently living in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Neetu Kumari's mother, Neelam Devi, and father, Arjun Sah, passed away a few years ago, after which her brother and uncle arranged her marriage to Shriom Gupta, son of the late Chandra Gupta, a resident of Megharia village in the Azimabad police station area, on November 30, 2020, in Khoda Colony, Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh.

At the time of the marriage, Neetu's family gave her in-laws gifts worth five lakh rupees in cash, a motorcycle, and other valuable items. In addition, 50 square yards of land was also purchased in Noida and given to the in-laws. Even after five years of marriage, when Neetu Kumari did not have any children, she was constantly subjected to mental and physical torture by her in-laws. Ravi Shankar said that a serious dispute had been going on in the family for the past two months over this issue, which had left Neetu extremely distressed. Ravi Shankar further stated that Neetu's husband, Shriom Gupta, had told him that he was no longer able to cope with the constant travel and wanted to stay and work in the village. Neetu Kumari had returned to her village, Azimabad, by train last Saturday after spending five days at her parents' home in Noida with her husband, Om Gupta. Meanwhile, Shriom Gupta allegedly murdered his wife, Neetu, and then burned her body at the Muktidham crematorium in Gangi to destroy the evidence. Upon receiving information about the incident, the deceased's family members rushed to Azimabad and informed the local police station. The deceased's cousin, Ravi Shankar, has explicitly accused Neetu's husband, Shriom Gupta, of harassing her due to their childlessness, murdering her, and then burning the body to conceal the evidence.

The Azimabad Station House Officer (SHO) stated that they received information about the incident from the deceased's brother, Rahul Kumar. Considering the seriousness of the matter, the police took swift action and immediately arrested the accused husband, Om Gupta. According to the SHO, during questioning, the accused husband told the police that his wife had committed suicide by hanging herself from a fan, and he had burned the body out of fear. The SHO also clarified that the deceased's family has not yet submitted a written complaint to the police. The police will take further legal action after receiving the complaint. It is reported that the deceased, Neetu Kumari, was the third of five siblings, having two brothers and two sisters. The tragic incident has plunged the deceased's family into deep sorrow. All the family members are inconsolable.
