PATNA--------------------------With the announcement of Bihar assembly elections, the sound of a major administrative reshuffle in the state has once again intensified. Soon after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Gaya, the news came out that the Election Commission has raised serious objections to the working style of officers of some districts. According to sources, the Commission has apprised the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police (DGP) about the complaints received against many District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police and their slow working style. After this, high-level meetings are being held continuously in Patel Bhawan, Patna.
Commission's strictness and government's strategy: The Election Commission believes that for fair and transparent elections, it is necessary to immediately remove such officers against whom complaints have been lodged by the public and political parties. The Commission has clearly indicated that any kind of negligence or bias will not be tolerated.
However, making large-scale transfers just before the elections is a sensitive step for the government. Therefore, the administrative department is making strategies with utmost caution so that neither the department gets disgraced nor the election process is affected.
Eye on DM-SP of three divisions: According to reliable sources, questions have been raised on the functioning of one District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police each of Tirhut, Seemanchal and Mithilanchal divisions. It is alleged that these officers were neither able to effectively handle law and order at the local level nor could they implement government schemes properly.
Apart from this, complaints of working under political pressure have also reached the commission against these officers. It is speculated that soon they can be removed from the district headquarters and sent to non-important posts. At the same time, in their place, responsibility will be given to such officers whose image is considered fair and transparent.
Next 48 hours are important: Continuous brainstorming is going on in the administrative circles and a list of possible names is being prepared. It is believed that a big decision can come out on this in the next 48 hours.
