ARA---------------------------On the orders of Bhojpur District Magistrate Tanay Sultania, the Prohibition Department is conducting continuous raids against alcohol in the district. In this context, Assistant Commissioner of Prohibition, Rajneesh, received a tip-off that a large quantity of foreign liquor was being transported to Ara from Uttar Pradesh in a pickup truck.
To verify the information and conduct the raid, the Assistant Commissioner of Prohibition formed a team led by Inspector Prakash Chandra. During a vehicle check, a Bolero pickup was seized near the Koilwar Overbridge in the Koilwar police station area. During the search, a large quantity of foreign liquor was recovered from a hidden basement beneath the truck.
The team arrested the driver of the pickup, Pintu Kumar Tiwari, son of Kanhaiya Tiwari, resident of Kanha Chhapra Ward No. 1 of Sinha police station area from the spot. He has been handed over to the court for further action. A total of 489.120 litres of foreign liquor in 1992 pieces was seized from the said vehicle. The market value of the seized liquor was estimated to be around Rs 6 lakh. The seized liquor was being brought to Bhojpur from Uttar Pradesh. The raiding team included Inspector Prakash Chandra, Sub-Inspector Shivam Kumar Jha, Assistant Sub-Inspector Ravi Kumar and Assistant Sub-Inspector Rajkumar Raja along with prohibition constables, SAP and Home Guard jawans.
