PATNA-----------------------Central government employees waiting for the 8th Pay Commission may receive a major setback. The statement made by the central government in Parliament regarding its implementation may leave them disappointed. In this regard, Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary has given a written reply in Parliament.
Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary gave a written reply in Parliament to a question about the 8th Pay Commission, stating that it is not yet decided whether the 8th Pay Commission will be implemented from January 1, 2026. This reply from the minister has come as a shock to the 50 lakh central government employees who were hopeful of its implementation.
It is noteworthy that for the past few days, there have been speculations among employees that the 8th Pay Commission might be implemented from January 1, 2026. However, the government has now clarified its position. During the discussion in Parliament, the minister informed that currently, the number of central government employees is 50.14 lakh and the number of pensioners is 69 lakh. All of them will benefit from the implementation of the 8th Pay Commission.
He further stated that a decision on the necessary funds for implementing the commission's recommendations will be taken in due course.
