BUXAR-----------------------The rising water level of the Ganga river in Buxar has also brought its tributaries to the brim. The fierce form of the Karmanasha river is being seen, due to which flood water is flowing up to about 2 feet on the Buxar-Mohania State Highway. This dangerous situation persists near Akhouripur Gola in Chausa police station area.
This highway connects Buxar to Varanasi and is called the 'lifeline' of the district. The movement of hundreds of people has become risky due to waterlogging on the road. Walking, passing by bicycle and bike is extremely dangerous due to about 2 feet of water. This danger increases even more in the morning, as it is difficult to guess the road in the water.
Local resident Laxman Pandey said that there are deep ditches on both sides of the road. When the road is filled with water, it becomes almost impossible to understand where the road is and where the ditch is. This poses a risk of pedestrians falling. Many school children are also going to school through this risky route.
A bike rider accidentally went off the road, but luckily he escaped unhurt. The villagers are demanding from the administration that a red ribbon or any identification mark be put on the side of the road so that people can know the way and accidents can be prevented.
SDO Avinash Kumar said that the local CO has been instructed to take necessary steps from the security point of view. He said that the district administration is constantly monitoring the situation. However, the villagers say that no concrete steps have been taken by the administration so far.
Yatindra Gupta, a resident of Chausa, has also demanded a ban on children bathing in this dangerous water, as it can endanger their lives.
