Political activity has intensified in Bihar for the upcoming assembly elections. All major parties are busy finalizing their preparations. In this context, the Bharatiya Janata Party has also begun a two-day core committee meeting today to refine its election strategy. This meeting is being held on September 24-25 at the party's state office in Patna.
BJP State President Dilip Jaiswal informed that this meeting is being held on the instructions of the central leadership. Dilip Jaiswal addressed the media before the meeting began and explained that the main objectives of this meeting are district-wise review, candidate selection, and finalization of the election strategy. He stated that prominent leaders from all districts have been invited to the meeting, and further strategy will be decided based on everyone's opinions. Organizational personnel from 26 districts have been invited to the meeting. Previously, biodata from over 6,000 people have been submitted to the party office for candidate selection, from which a shortlist of candidates will be shortlisted and their names will be discussed.
Prominent leaders and officials from half the districts attended the meeting on the first day, while the remaining districts will meet on the second day. The meeting began at 11 a.m. and will continue until late evening. Approximately 20 to 25 leaders from each district attended. According to the BJP, this meeting is a major step towards organizational transparency and selecting candidates based on ground realities in the election process.
The main focus of the meeting is on the candidate selection process for the upcoming assembly elections, booth empowerment, and communicating the NDA government's work to the public. It is reported that the list of candidates will be finalized at this meeting, which will then be sent to the central leadership. The list submitted by the BJP's parent organizations will also be discussed.
The meeting is attended by the BJP's top leadership, including the state president, both deputy chief ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs, current and former district presidents, and senior officials. This meeting is considered a crucial phase in the BJP's election preparations.
According to BJP sources, the party may field several new faces this time. The party has decided that leaders over 70 years of age will not be given priority, and will avoid giving symbols to those facing local opposition or who are not active in the area. New faces who have long been associated with the BJP or its parent organization will be given a chance.
Furthermore, there has been talk of giving preference to non-beggar leaders in the candidate selection this time. This could encourage core party workers and leaders associated with the organization for years. The party intends to distribute tickets keeping in mind local dynamics, worker opinions, and ground realities.
The meeting is also expected to clarify how many seats the BJP will contest in Bihar, which candidates will receive tickets, and which sitting MLAs will lose their tickets. Leaders whose names are omitted from the list may be considered for inclusion in the advisory board or for new roles within the organization.
All eyes are now fixed on the outcome of this meeting. It will be interesting to see whose name is included in the list, whose is omitted, and what new changes are seen in the BJP's strategy. This meeting could undoubtedly prove to be a crucial step in determining the direction of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.
