HYDERABAD AUG 30 (RNI) Telugu Film Actor Chiranjeevi inaugurated two-day International Conference on Managing Complex Liver Transplants in Hyderabad on Saturday.
Speaking at the inauguration, Megastar Chiranjeevi said, “Liver transplantation is not just about saving a life, it’s about giving someone a second chance to live fully. I am proud to be part of this initiative that combines medical excellence with compassion, and I hope this handbook will guide patients and families towards a healthier future.
Top surgeons from India and abroad convene to push boundaries in liver transplantation attended the conference.
The theme is “Preparing the Complex Recipient” , advancing strategies for liver patients with additional medical challenges.
With global experts coming together, the conference brings new strategies for complex cases and a clear message: there is hope, even in the toughest situations.
Liver transplantation, once a very rare surgery, has now become a regular and life-saving treatment for people with severe liver disease.
India is now the third-highest country in the world for the number of liver transplants done each year and is a global leader in living donor transplants.
Thanks to advanced surgical skills, even patients who were earlier thought to be too risky for surgery are now getting a new chance at life.
It is in this context that STAR LiverTalkx 2025, hosted by the STAR Liver Institute under the leadership of Dr. Mettu Srinivas Reddy, Programme Director and Chief Liver Transplant Surgeon, is being held with the theme “Preparing the Complex Recipient.” The two-day program (30th–31st August 2025) with 3 CME points, accredited by Telangana Medical Council, will bring together renowned national and international faculty.
A One-of-a-Kind Platform for Knowledge Sharing STAR LiverTalkx 2025 marks the first annual meeting of this international series.
Unlike routine medical meetings, its focus is on the most challenging transplant recipients, patients suffering not only from advanced liver disease but also kidney dysfunction, cardiac compromise, severe infections, or frailty.
Through structured sessions and case-based discussions, the conference is showcasing strategies to manage these complexities with a multidisciplinary approach, ensuring safer surgeries and improved patient outcomes.
A keynote lecture by Prof. Patrick Kamath (Mayo Clinic, USA), offering insights into the prognostication of liver disease, alongside Indian pioneers sharing real-world experiences in handling the toughest transplant cases.
