WOMAN LOST HER HUSBAND AND SON

ARA--------------------------A father and son drowned in a water reservoir (*ahar*) in Sevathra village, under the Narayanpur police station area, on Saturday evening. The incident caused panic and commotion in the village and surrounding areas. The deceased have been identified as 25-year-old Umesh Ram and his 3-year-old son, Abhay Kumar, residents of Sahyogi Tola village within the Narayanpur police station limits.

Family members stated that the man's wife had gone to the fields to transplant paddy seedlings. Meanwhile, the child started crying. Umesh Ram then set out for the fields with his son, Abhay Kumar, perched on his shoulders. On the way, near the reservoir, he slipped; both father and son fell into the water and drowned. Villagers present at the scene informed the local police. Subsequently, with the help of the villagers, both bodies were retrieved from the water. The police took custody of the bodies and had post-mortem examinations conducted at Sadar Hospital.

Following the deaths of the father and son from Sahyogi Tola, the household was plunged into grief, and the family members were inconsolable. The wife of the deceased, Umesh Ram, could not stop weeping; she went into shock upon hearing the news of her husband and son's deaths, repeatedly fainting from grief. In a tragic turn of events, she lost both her husband and her child in a single day.
