ARA----------------------------While delivering a discourse at the Sri Lakshmi Narayan Mahayajna in Parmanpur, the revered Indian sage and saint, Sri Lakshmi Prapanna Jeeyar Swami Ji Maharaj, emphasized that while providing children with a good education is crucial, higher education alone is not enough. It is equally important to impart an education grounded in moral values and cultural ethos.
He noted that although children today receive higher education, cultural, spiritual, social, familial, and ethical education are just as vital for them. Nowadays, many children have to pursue their education away from home—often in hostels—from a young age. While they gain academic knowledge there, they often lack sufficient understanding of social conduct and family values.
He stated that it is a major responsibility of every parent to teach their children about social and moral values, a process that must begin within the family. In today's world, children often become distressed by even minor difficulties and the ups and downs of life. Therefore, it is essential to cultivate qualities such as courage, patience, self-confidence, and a sense of social harmony in them, enabling them to face every life situation with resilience.
He further added that whether children study within the country or abroad, continuous guidance from their parents remains indispensable. While schools and universities impart curriculum-based education, there must also be a focus on developing an understanding of societal values, cultural traditions, and practical life skills. This will empower the younger generation to become self-reliant and capable of positively navigating the changes occurring in society.
He observed that minor problems and mental stress are significantly affecting children today. In such a scenario, connecting them with social, cultural, and ethical education is the need of the hour. Only then will they become mentally strong and be able to overcome the negative emotions that arise within them.
