BHABHUA-------------------------Block Education Officer Rajesh Singh conducted surprise inspections of several government schools in the block on Friday to assess the academic setup. During the inspections, checks were carried out regarding teacher attendance, classroom operations, student attendance, Independence Day preparations, and the status of lesson notes prepared by teachers. Several shortcomings came to light across different schools. Explanations are being sought from the concerned headmasters and teachers regarding these issues.
According to Block Education Officer Rajesh Singh, the first surprise inspection was conducted at Primary School Sultanpur. While the school has a total enrollment of 68 students, only 50 were found present during the inspection. The check revealed that the lesson notes written by teachers had not been verified by the headmistress, which was not in accordance with departmental guidelines. An explanation will be sought from the headmistress regarding this matter. The department has clarified that if the explanation is found unsatisfactory, departmental action may be taken in accordance with the rules.
Subsequently, a surprise inspection was conducted at Middle School Upari. During the inspection, some students were found outside the school on the road while preparing for the Independence Day program. The Block Education Officer sent the students back to the school. He also warned the headmaster, stating that such a situation must not recur during school hours. Instructions were issued to exercise necessary caution regarding student safety and their presence within the school premises.
In contrast, the situation was different during the inspection of the Upgraded Higher Secondary School Upari. All teachers were found present, and students were actively preparing for the Independence Day program. During the inspection, the attendance of teachers and the ongoing activities within the schools were assessed.
Subsequently, the Block Education Officer inspected Primary School Balua. It was discovered that the Headmistress, Pratibha Singh, had not verified the teachers' lesson logs. Additionally, the inspection revealed that teachers Shalini Singh and Sanjay Pal had failed to maintain their lesson logs. Explanations are being sought from the concerned teachers regarding this matter. Further action will be decided after reviewing the explanations received at the departmental level.
In the same series of visits, a surprise inspection was also conducted at Middle School Siyarua. At the time of the inspection, it was observed that preparations for August 15th were underway instead of the conduct of regular classes. Furthermore, the teachers' lesson logs were found not to be up to date. The teacher-in-charge has been warned regarding this issue, and an explanation has been sought from them.
Block Education Officer Rajesh Singh stated that maintaining a high standard of academic operations in schools is a priority for the Education Department. Surprise inspections are being conducted with the aim of verifying whether classes are being held regularly, whether teachers are fulfilling their assigned responsibilities, and whether children are receiving a suitable learning environment.
He remarked that while preparations for national festivals like Independence Day are natural in schools, regular academic activities should not be compromised. Special attention needs to be paid to student attendance, the conduct of classes, and the fulfillment of teachers' responsibilities.
Explanations are being sought from the concerned head teachers and teachers regarding the shortcomings identified during the inspection. Once the explanations are received, they will be reviewed at the departmental level. If the responses are found unsatisfactory, departmental action will be taken in accordance with the rules.
This surprise inspection by the Education Department caused a stir among the schools. Indications from the department make it clear that negligence regarding class operations, teacher responsibilities, and lesson log maintenance will henceforth be treated seriously. Such surprise inspections are likely to continue in the coming days. This is expected to help make the academic system in schools regular and effective.
