BHABHUA--------------------------The police have taken swift action and arrested four named accused in connection with the murder of a young man in Akhini village, under the jurisdiction of the Nuaon police station. Meanwhile, Sub-Inspector (SI) Ashutosh Kumar, posted at the Nuaon police station, has been suspended with immediate effect for failing to take appropriate action despite receiving an initial complaint regarding the matter. According to the police, the Superintendent of Police received information around 7:00 AM on August 5 that a body had been dumped near Akhini village. Investigation revealed the deceased's identity as Ravindra Kumar, a resident of Akhini. It was discovered that Ravindra Kumar had left his home around 10:00 PM on August 3, telling his wife he was going to meet a friend, but never returned. His family had reported him missing to the Nuaon police station. Given the gravity of the incident, a case (Nuaon Police Station Case No. 69/26) was registered based on the statement of the deceased's wife. The case was filed under Sections 103(1), 62(2), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 3(2)(V) of the SC/ST Act, and a special team was constituted under the leadership of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Mohania. Acting swiftly, the team arrested all four named accused. The arrested individuals include Nausad Khan (alias Sonu Khan), Markandey Mallah, Amit Kumar, and Champa Devi (alias Pinky Devi)—all residents of Akhini village. Following interrogation, the police are proceeding with further legal action. Separately, an inquiry was conducted into the role of the Nuaon police station regarding the entire matter. The inquiry found the conduct of SI Ashutosh Kumar to be suspicious, deeming it an act of negligence, indiscipline, and arbitrary behavior. Based on these findings, the Superintendent of Police suspended him with immediate effect. The police state that the investigation into the matter and action regarding other aspects are ongoing.
