Badaun Gets New CDO: IAS Gamini Singla Transferred from Sultanpur, Assumes Charge
Badaun (RNI) In a recent administrative reshuffle involving around 40 officer's by the Uttar Pradesh government, IAS officer Gamini Singla has been appointed as the new Chief Development Officer (CDO) of Badaun district. She was previously serving as Joint Magistrate in Sultanpur.
Following the official orders, she assumed charge at the Vikas Bhawan in Badaun on Tuesday, where she was welcomed by officials and staff of the development department.
A 2021-batch IAS officer, Singla secured an impressive All India Rank 3 in the prestigious UPSC Civil Services Examination. Notably, she achieved this feat while working, showcasing exceptional determination and discipline. She comes from an engineering background and has also worked in the private sector prior to joining the civil services.
After completing her training, she was allotted the Uttar Pradesh cadre and has since handled various administrative responsibilities. During her tenure as Joint Magistrate in Sultanpur, she played an active role in revenue administration, law and order management, and implementation of development schemes. Her efforts in strengthening monitoring mechanisms and public grievance redressal systems were widely appreciated.
As the Chief Development Officer of Badaun, Singla will now oversee key rural development initiatives, including MGNREGA, Swachh Bharat Mission, and the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, along with other central and state government schemes. Expectations are high that her proactive approach will accelerate development projects and enhance transparency in the district.
According to administrative sources, the transfer aims to ensure better supervision and faster execution of development works. Given her track record, officials believe that Badaun’s development projects may gain renewed momentum under her leadership.
Meanwhile, the outgoing CDO, Keshav Kumar, has been transferred as Registrar to Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University.
Singla’s family originally hails from Sangrur district in Punjab and has been residing in Shri Naina Devi Ji, Bilaspur, for the past 24 years. Her parents, Alok Singla and Neeraj Singla, are medical officers. She completed her schooling from Mount Convent School, Nangal, and later pursued her higher studies in Chandigarh. She holds a B.Tech degree in Computer Science from Punjab Engineering College and chose Sociology as her optional subject in the civil services examination.
Several officials, including DDO Akhilesh Chaubey, Assistant Accounts Officer Munish Srivastava, AO Manoj Gupta, Steno Sanjay Arya, and senior clerical staff, were present on the occasion.
