BUXAR----------------------Flood water is increasing the problems of the villagers in North Nainijor Panchayat of Brahmapur block. The Panchayat's Dhabi, Gajadhar Dera and Tar village are surrounded by water. Due to blockage of communication routes, people are facing problems in getting essential facilities like food, drinking water, medicine and electricity. At the same time, there is a crisis of fodder for the cattle also.

The team of Inquilabi Naujawan Sabha (RYA) and CPI (ML) visited the flood affected villages on Saturday and took stock of the situation. Apart from RYA National President and former Dumraon MLA Dr. Ajit Kushwaha, the team included Biran Yadav, Surendra Kushwaha, Nirbhay Yadav and Suresh Ram.

After the visit, Dr. Ajit Kushwaha raised questions on the government relief and rescue arrangements and said that despite the serious flood situation, adequate arrangements have not been made. There is no provision of large enough motorized boats for the transportation of villagers. Adequate number of life jackets are also not available for the safety of people traveling by boat.

He said that the officials themselves visit the flood affected areas wearing life jackets, but the villagers have to travel by boats without adequate security arrangements. Describing it as serious negligence, he said that if the system is not improved in time, a major accident can happen at any time.

Dr. Ajit Kushwaha said that after informing the Dumraon SDM about the situation in the area, a demand has been made to immediately improve the relief and rescue arrangements.

The team of RYA and CPI (ML) has demanded immediate declaration of North Nainijore Panchayat as a flood affected area. Besides, a demand has been made to ensure provision of adequate motorized boats and life jackets in the affected villages, 24-hour medical camps, dry ration and clean drinking water for the affected families and immediate provision of fodder for the cattle.

Dr. Ajit Kushwaha said that the government should stop food supply in the name of relief and run relief and rescue operations on a war footing. He said that if the problems of flood victims are not resolved soon, the movement for their rights will be intensified.
